Head, neck and spine, lip, belly and foot, came together in this ceramic throwing and movement workshop developed over the course of the Lumsden Residency at the Scottish Sculpture Workshop (2019). The workshop drew from ideas of ‘inefficient’ or ‘off centre’ movement, informed by the potters’ wheel as well as movement therapy practices such as the Alexander technique. Considering the connections between human and clay bodies in motion, we took the time to make gentle adjustments and work collaboratively to produce a simple choreography on and off the wheel. Neon and netting costumed were included.
